Privacy Policy

This site is operated by Jacob Cain, trading as JC Development, in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a portfolio and enquiry site — there are no accounts, no logins, and nothing is sold here.
This policy describes exactly what the site does. If something below stops being true, this page gets updated, because it is the page people rely on to know.
What I collect
Only what you type into the contact form. That is your email address and your message, which are required, plus your name and a subject line, which are optional.
When you submit the form, that information is sent to me as an email. It is not written to a database, added to a mailing list, or used to build a profile. The form also contains a hidden field that people never see; if it is filled in, the submission is treated as automated and discarded.
If you use the booking link, scheduling is handled by Google Calendar's appointment scheduling. Whatever you enter there goes to Google under Google's own privacy policy, not mine.
What is collected automatically
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard request information — IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time — for security and to keep the service running. I do not have a way to tie those records to a person.
Email delivery for the contact form is handled by Resend, which processes the message in order to deliver it.
If analytics are enabled on this site, they are used only to count visits and see which pages get read. They are never used to identify individual visitors, and the data is not sold or shared with advertisers.
What is stored in your browser
If you switch the site between light and dark, that choice is saved in your own browser so the site remembers it next time. It stays on your device, is not a tracking cookie, and is never sent to me. Clearing your browser data removes it.
How your message is used
To reply to you, and to have the conversation you started. That is all.
I do not sell, rent, or trade contact information. I do not add people to a newsletter because they sent an enquiry. I do not share your message with anyone else except the service providers named above, who process it only to deliver it.
How long it is kept
Enquiry emails stay in my mail account so I have a record of work discussed. If you would rather I delete yours, ask and I will.
Your choices
Write to me at the address below and I will tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You do not need to give a reason, and there is no charge.
Depending on where you live you may have formal rights over your personal data, such as under the GDPR or the CCPA. I will honour those requests regardless of where you are.
Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Messages travel over encrypted connections to the providers named above. No site can promise perfect security, and this one does not.
Links to other sites
Pages here link out to client sites, GitHub repositories, LinkedIn, and a scheduling link. Once you follow one, you are on someone else's site under someone else's policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top changes with it.
